We’re living through the beginning of the rise of the machines. Artificial Intelligence is writing our emails, creating our images, composing our music, and even generating videos.

AI will soon replace every white-collar worker, and on that great and glorious day, the bean counters will finally get to write the rest of us off.

Then, they too, will suddenly find themselves surplus to requirements.

Oops.

I doubt there’s anything we can do about this. The economics are simply unassailable.

Why Buy the Cow?

As the old saying goes, “why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?”

Why pay a copywriter to agonise for hours over your sales copy when artificial intelligence will do it for a modest monthly subscription?

Why pay a videographer to fiddle with the lighting on your dime when you can render something that is “good enough” for a fraction of the price?

AI is going to take your job, no matter what it is you do.

Why pay a lawyer a small fortune to draw up your terms and conditions when Grok will do it for nothing?

Why pay a bookkeeper to update your cashbook or an accountant to do your taxes when an accounting-specific version of ChatGPT will do them for peanuts?

AI Will Also Take Manual Jobs

Those who perform labour-intensive services such as policing or fire-fighting needn’t feel smug, either. The robots are coming for those jobs, too. Besides, if my neighbours and I have robots of our own, why do we need an external provider of protection against thugs, fire, and foreign invaders?

In which case, what use are parliamentarians and those who enjoy making life miserable for everyone else by dreaming up ever more complex and idiotic legislation?

The end of safetyism and the demented bureaucrats who force it on us may be the only light in a very dark future.
