The One Stop Web Shop was created by Web Designer Wayne Davies in 2024.
His goal is to make it as easy as possible for small business owners to get a new website designed, populated with content, and launched as quickly and easily as possible.

In 1987, future web designer Wayne Davies edited the University of Waikato’s student newspaper, Nexus.
He converted the paper to a magazine format, wrote 26 editorials and countless articles throughout the year, and developed a lifelong love of writing.
While at Nexus, Wayne bought a Mac SE and a laser printer, the paper’s first move into desktop publishing.
Post-Nexus, during his early career, Wayne maintained a lucrative side gig using his desktop publishing skills to produce newsletters, logos, business cards, flyers, and letterheads for small business owners.
Wayne landed in the marketing department of National Mutual Life in Wellington in 1993.
After asking one too many questions of the man who would later become his future business partner, that man decided it might be easier to teach Wayne SQL. Neither man could possibly have known how useful this skill would become by the end of the decade!
Wayne made the move into Direct Marketing, completing the NZDMA Certificate of Direct Marketing in 1994.
Through business networking, he met others in the industry and made the move to Tower Retirement Investment Limited in 1995, as their Direct Marketing Manager.
While in this role, the Internet entered Wayne’s world, and nothing would ever be the same again. At the end of 1999, Wayne resigned from Tower to go full-time with an Internet advertising business he had launched with his former colleague from National Mutual.
Wayne rode the early curve of the burgeoning Internet advertising book. Wayne focused on web design while his business partner worked on the back end.
In those early days, there was no infrastructure to support pioneers. They had to develop everything from scratch, and working from New Zealand, they had to look offshore for automated real-time credit card processing and other technologies.
By the time Google AdWords turned Internet advertising on its ear, Wayne was living in London. He had been travelling the world, running his business from a laptop, and very much enjoying life.
With little chance of competing with the world’s leading search engine, Wayne set up as a web designer in London and joined a local BNI networking group.
Having started as a PHP-based full-stack web developer using MySQL, Wayne eventually moved into WordPress development.
This opened up the opportunity to seek work on London’s lucrative contract scene, and Wayne started a five-week contract with Havas Media in 2014.
Two years later, Havas offered Wayne a permanent role, which coincided with his pending mortgage refinance date and a desire to access the lower rates available to permanent employees.
While at Havas Media, Wayne moved into Frontend design, working with Metalsmith, Node JS, React, Netlify, and a wealth of technologies built on top of JavaScript.
When Havas made the WordPress team redundant during London’s COVID-19 lockdown, Wayne resumed contracting, delivering WordPress sites for a variety of clients.
In 2021, Wayne and his wife decided to return to New Zealand permanently to be closer to family. He has worked as a web designer and WordPress developer since 2022, initially for others at first, before starting The One Stop Web Shop in September 2024.
